My new fave store is Made590 on King Street, Newtown, Sydney. I’ve known about this delightful, whimsical store for a while, but now, each time I travel to Sydney, I ensure that I swing by. They have a gorgeous mix of women’s, men’s and kids garments; jewellery; and bits n’ bobs for home. Most of the items are designed by the in-house team at Made590, while they also offer a select range of other brands. If you can’t make it to their Sydney store, have a look at their online space. It’s heaps of fun and bound to make you smile.
It’ a sleepy Saturday, raining lightly, clouds in the sky. Don’t feel like doing much except hanging out with the kids and pottering about the house. I’ve got the looonngg drive to Sydney ahead of me tomorrow. It’s a bit of a killer; a four hour slog to be exact. Don’t much feel like it…but business beckons.
Hunt for fabric/meet with fashion distributor/dinner with fashion designer/check fashion samples/: these are just some of the things on my SYDNEY TO DO LIST. Planning a trip to Sydney from the South Coast is not as easy as it sounds. First of all, it takes 4 hours from where I live (ouch!), which is a little too far for my liking. I adore the serenity and beauty of Milton & Bawley Point, but the big smoke is just so ALIVE! I find that my SYDNEY TO DO LIST is sooooo lonnnngg by the time I get there that I end up squeezing every ounce out of every day/scheduling meetings back-to-back, but I still don’t end up with enough time. Maybe I need to buy a city crash pad! Now there’s an idea…
Off to the big-smoke (Sydney, I love you!) to: hoik my wares; purchase some storage, beads and lighting for the office; pick up a shipment of newly arrived goodies; get some PR advice from a PR guru; meet a sales agent; do a photography shoot (Sue Stubbs – you rock!); meet my web designer (Susan Cadzow – you rock!); and go out to dinner (Italian, hopefully!). Always sad to leave the kidlets at home, but business beckons! How do you juggle work/family? Any tips?
