New MISS MOSS retail store: Milton NSW

It’s been a wonderful couple of weeks for MISS MOSS. I’ve finally bitten the bullet and opened a store in the delightful South Coast town of Milton, NSW.  I stock my own label, of course, which includes jersey dresses, tunics and wraps; cotton shirts; tee’s and jewellery. I’ve also got some yummy vintage items and second hand garments from Sass & Bide, Allanah Hill, Country Road and such. Plus I’m stocking Rare Rabbit, Polka Luka and Fabulous Vintage. The response has been simply fantastic and guess what? It’s been fun, fun, fun! Following are some pics. Drop in when you’re next in town. 3/91 Princes Highway Milton NSW 2538 (above Raine & Horne). xo

This shot was taken on my mobile! It's not the best shot in the world, but there's more on the way in the next few weeks.

Ditto for this shot! But don't you just love that green wall?! Love!

New festive jewellery from MISS MOSS {fashion}

I’m genuinely excited about the new products which are now part of my online collection. These include vivid red coral bracelets, coral + turquoise necklaces and carved turquoise studs. I also have a delightful new range of sterling silver items – all very Tiffany inspired. The response to MISS MOSS over the past few months has been sensational. An added bonus is that I truly love what I do and have some wonderful new ideas in the pipeline for 2012. To all of you a very Merry Christmas. Thankyou for your continued support and loving what we do! See you in the new year! MISS MOSS xxx

New Mexican Oilcloth Products NOW@MISS MOSS.

I’m a big believer in breaking rules – all that rigidity + structure drives me nuts! Where’s the fun in lining up in a row + doing things like everyone else? No thanks! I’d rather do things a little differently – like Thomas A. Edison who said: “Hell, there are no rules here – we’re trying to accomplish something!”

Yellow Hibiscus bag made with Mexican Oilcloth

My penchant for rule breaking is partly why I’ve added Mexican Oilcloth products to my site – kids aprons, placemats + lunchboxes + such.  Some, a long way from the realms of “fashion” but – heck – they still qualify in the style stakes. The good thing is that – where and when possible – these items are made in Australia at a sheltered workshop which employs autistic + handicapped adults, while the remaining items are crafted in Mexico. An inspired reason to support this rule breaking session! My advice? Go hard early! Have a great day!

Coastal Collective: Press Release

Two South Coast based fashion labels, Anna & Sally and Miss Moss, have banded together to kick start Coastal Collective, an online creative co-operative that supports and promotes artists, designers and such based on the South Coast of NSW. A recent coup for Coastal Collective is an invitation to exhibit at Melbourne’s prestigious LifeInstyle Trade Fair, Flemington Racecourse Grandstand, 10-13 August, 2010.

The two brands will appear side by side at this event that is widely hailed as Australia’s top fashion and homewares trade event. LifeInstyle is held in Sydney and Melbourne every year, with 12,000 and 35,000 attendees, respectively, from around the country and abroad.

According to Siobhan O’Brien creative director and founder of Miss Moss, “It’s very exciting to be involved with an event of this scale. The next step for Miss Moss is to take it from the local area into an arena that offers wider exposure. Such an opportunity is possible with LifeInstyle. When we received the call that Coastal Collective was accepted, we were elated.” (more…)

Miss Moss @ Tutties Boutique: Terrigal

Miss Moss Belted Kaftan in Turquoise and Choc Tribal Print

Miss Moss Belted Kaftan in Turquoise and Choc Tribal Print

It was a whirlwind meeting, but Jackie Donkin, the owner of Tutties Boutique in Terrigal, almost cleaned this label out of printed summer clothing. And it has been selling for her like hot cakes! Jackie loved the Belted Kaftan in Turquoise and Choc Tribal (pictured); and even purchased one for herself. This particular style, looks great with heaps of modern accessories – necklaces, chunky bracelets and the like; and is a fab throw on after the beach. It also looks good and feels great without a belt, for those days when you are just happy to mooch about and let the world pass you by.

Miss Moss: Dreaming of Winter Collection 2010

It’s summer here in OZ, but I am dreaming of my winter collection already! There’s a theme going on in my mind: charcoal, chocolate with inspired insertions of colour, texture and drama. I’m due to pick up the most STUNNING fabric tomorrow – soft, charcoal wool with black beaded embroidery that dances around the hemline. The plan is for a go-everywhere/look-stunning-without-much-effort coat that is straight and long-ish (to the knees is ample). Then there’s another inspired bolt of fabric, a basic ruffle-upon-ruffle affair, that I intend to get made up into a long (mid-calf) sleeveless, cross-seasonal vest. I also have plans for tunics that require nothing else except lots of layers – leggings and such (these are made from a textured NZ fabric); a selection of comfy pants and matching cami’s; and an array of other jackets that are still on the drawing board. Now, where’s the snow?
