MISS MOSS hearts Monster Threads

Times have changed since we first started in 2008. Back then we exclusively designed and manufactured our own garments, jewellery and bags. It was an exciting time. We wholesaled to a bunch of stores in Australia and NZ and built our online store. Today things are different. We don’t wholesale anymore, we sell our designs exclusively via our retail store, website and hardtofind. We still design our own items, but have added other brands to the mix. These brands include: Monster Threads, Polka Luka, BrooklynLoveDesigns, Fabulous Vintage among others. By embracing our new friends we have become greater than the sum of our parts. These additional brands offer our business ingenuity, creativity and a wider variety for our customers. Onwards and upwards. Below are some images of some of the many Monster Threads stores in Australia and New Zealand…We simply adore their products.

MISS MOSS online store now up-and-running

Goodness me! Don’t you hate it when your phone is broken, your computer inoperable and worse, you website NOT WORKING!!! I’ve had that kinda week. Monday a customer calls to say that they can’t click through to my online shop – Tuesday another, Wednesday another….and the week just went downhill from there. Anyway, thanks to the good folk at Store Front Themes (the powers that be who make my online shop a reality) all is well and rosy. A big thanks to the customers who alerted me to the fault!!!

Fashion Notes: The Wacky World of Tokio Kumagai

Edible footwear? Japanese designer Tokio Kumagai (1948-1987) loves this kinda thing. In 1984 he launched his “Shoes to Eat” collection. Prior to this he attended the Bunka Fashion College (that includes alumni such as Kenzo Takada, Yohji Yamamoto and Tsumori Chisato), worked for Castlebajac in Paris and Cerruti in Italy, before he opened his own boutique in 1980.  Lady Ga Ga eat your shoes out.

Plain and Simple is Best

There’s nothing quite like simplicity – a simple hug, deed or greeting can make your day, alter your mood, transform your world. A simple conversation, moment of clarity, gesture of good will usually has the same effect. Equally, seeing something like a flock of birds in flight, your favourite band or a much loved friend may provide joyous memories. Many of us fill our worlds with so much clutter and chatter, that sometimes it pays to focus on the simple things in life.

The world according to Einstein.

A startling image of birds in flight - such a simple delight.

Yes please! Sounds simply wonderful!

A picture is worth a thousand words…

The simple act of looking at photos is often all that’s needed to provide inspiration for: sewing a new outfit; decorating a room; painting a picture; writing that letter you always meant to write….These scrumptious thought-provoking images are all via weheartit.

Nostalgic vintage girl...

A dreamy ride through Paris streets...

Reminiscing about romance...

Fashion Faux Pas Top 10

We’ve all seen them. We’ve probably even done them. It’s the modern fashion faux pas, not to be confused with the fashion faux pas of yesteryear when it was socially unacceptable to leave the house without a hat and gloves. The modern fashion faux pas takes things to an entirely new level – take Tara Reid or Janet Jackson’s nipple flashing as an example. Wear underwear people!

Here’s my list of the top ten fashion faux pas:  visible g-string thong (so Kath and Kim!); socks with sandals (ewwww!); streaky or excessive fake tan; clothes that are too small; white shoes; unwanted skin exposure (see Tara Reid); corporate wear with sneakers (I’m about to throw up); age appropriate clothing (Joan Collins take note); shorts with stockings or stockings with open toed shoes; wearing a wedding dress when it’s not your wedding day (ditto Britney Spears). Do all those things make you feel completely grossed out? Wait until you see some of these images.

Left: Mariah Carey looks like a dill in stockings and shorts. Right: Tara Reid flashes her nipple..oopsie daisy..will she ever live it down?!

There's something not quite right about Gwenyth Paltrow's jumpsuit...

What was Anne Hathaway thinking when she wore this to the Oscars in 2007?

I forgot to add cracked heels to my fashion faux pas list...

Now that's just plain weird. We know where your nipples are love.

What is the guy in the red t-shirt thinking?
