You gotta love the ABC for its arts/cultural programs. This weekend I was mesmerized by a spot about Canberra stencil/graffiti artist E.L.K who uses spray-cans to conduct his work.  He is an autodidact, but the art form he began messing around with because ‘he needed something to do’ has started to gain him international attention and a swag of awards.

When you see an E.L.K stencil, it is difficult to figure out how something so photo-realistic could be created with a spray-can. And amazingly enough, his “Wake up to the Stink” stencil {above} that features Jesus in a gas mask was on a recent cover of Australia’s Art Monthly magazine.  For more, check out elkstensils.
