Coastal Collective: Press Release

PRESS RELEASE: SOUTH-COAST BASED FASHION LABELS ANNA & SALLY and MISS MOSS ARE SET TO APPEAR AT THE PRESTIGIOUS LIFEINSTYLE TRADE EVENT, MELBOURNE 10-13 AUGUST 2010.

Two South Coast based fashion labels, Anna & Sally and Miss Moss, have banded together to kick start Coastal Collective, an online creative co-operative that supports and promotes artists, designers and such based on the South Coast of NSW. A recent coup for Coastal Collective is an invitation to exhibit at Melbourne’s prestigious LifeInstyle Trade Fair, Flemington Racecourse Grandstand, 10-13 August, 2010.

The two brands will appear side by side at this event that is widely hailed as Australia’s top fashion and homewares trade event. LifeInstyle is held in Sydney and Melbourne every year, with 12,000 and 35,000 attendees, respectively, from around the country and abroad.

According to Siobhan O’Brien creative director and founder of Miss Moss, “It’s very exciting to be involved with an event of this scale. The next step for Miss Moss is to take it from the local area into an arena that offers wider exposure. Such an opportunity is possible with LifeInstyle. When we received the call that Coastal Collective was accepted, we were elated.” In the ramp up to the exhibition, these two young brands will host a fund raising fashion parade at Cupitt’s Winery and Vineyard Kitchen, located in Ulladulla NSW, that will be held June, 2010.

In the long term, there are plans afoot for Coastal Collective to become a hub for all things creative along the coast.

Says Anna Percy-Foster, designer and co-owner of Anna & Sally, “Our aim is for Coastal Collective to become like a virtual artisans market; a place to peruse and purchase the work of artists and designers from the South Coast. Often artists and designers find marketing their brand difficult, this is where we come in and do the work for them.”

About the Author

The creative director/founder of MISS MOSS, Siobhan O’Brien, is perhaps best known as an Australian journalist + author. In the publishing industry for around fifteen years, Siobhan has been published in most major Australian newspapers + magazines. Siobhan has drawn + created things since she knew how. But, the MISS MOSS journey started when she dabbled in jewellery design around 2008. She relished the creativity + got a buzz out of crafting objects for people to wear. The business kicked along, but it was after the birth of her third child, that this creative endeavour turned into something more significant. MISS MOSS expanded to include women’s clothing + other fashion accessories such as bags, belts, scarves. Now, Siobhan continues to design + make many of the pieces in the collection, while she works closely with fashion designers to devise the rest. MISS MOSS is currently available throughout Australian + New Zealand, employs a host of manufacturers in Australia + abroad + continues to grow.
