I have just discovered grey and it is my new black. I always thought that grey would drain the skin: i.e make the wearer look wan, sunken-eyed, depleted…you get the drift..But, alas! Grey does not do these things. Instead it’s easy to wear (like black) but it’s softer, somewhat moodier and it has more depth than black, that is just so….well, black. Grey is great to layer (i.e with white and/or other greyish tones); it’s also good with a splash of colour (I favour coral); and wonderful with silver jewellery. I thought this Sass and Bide t-shirt was cute. It’s available for sale via their website.
It’s official! Miss Moss fashion and accessories is set to exhibit at Melbourne’s LifeInstyle at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse Grandstand! This trade only event – which attracts around 35,000 visitors from around Australia and abroad - provides the opportunity for lifestyle, fashion and children’s wear brands to strut their stuff. After receiving the news yesterday, I spent the night tossing and turning about the why’s and wherefore’s i.e. stand width, height, display; then there’s travel, marketing, sampling..my head is in a whirl…hurrah! xxx
These glorious, earthy, tribal fashion embellishments were recently on show at the 10th Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo. The designer responsible for these divine creations is Tamae Hirokawa, who was formally trained by Issey Miyake and is now the head designer for Japanese fashion label Somarta. Tamae’s creations appeared on the catwalk at Tokyo Midtown on Day 4 of Japan Fashion Week on March 25, 2010 in Tokyo, Japan. Some more of her creations can be viewed here:
I’ve been hunting about in my archives for articles that I’ve written. I found this piece that was published in the Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Living section some time back. It’s an exhibition review of Dressing and Dreaming, which was held at Sydney’s Sherman Gallery. I thought I’d post it on the MISS MOSS blog as well. Here it is: Dressing and Dreaming: Copyright (c) Siobhan O’Brien
Fashion is no longer just about ornamentation and warmth, it has evolved into an art, beyond racks, runways, streets, even our bodies. Our first whiff of this, was when demonstrators and feminists in the sixties recognized t-shirts as the perfect vehicle for artistic, political and social comment. But, now clothing has gone beyond the need of even having to contain a body, or at least that’s what the ten artists think in the “Dressing and Dreaming” exhibition at the Sherman Galleries. (more…)
It’s wonderful when you find something that truly inspires. Dailyimprint is one such thing. It’s a blog written by Natalie Walton, deputy editor of Australia’s Real Living magazine. It’s a fusion of many different disciplines: fashion, craft, design among them. In most of her posts Natalie interviews the people who inspire her – the editors, designers, entrepreneurs et al. The idea is not unlike the interviews which have been filed under Miss Moss Interviews on this blog. In her posts Natalie asks her subject questions such as: what inspires you; what are you passionate about; what’s been your best decision – all the gritty stuff. Have a look — it’s like the header says: Inspiration. Creativity. Interviews.
It’s pouring with rain and it’s sooooo lovely. I’m on a school break with the kids, which means a break from Miss Moss – but that doesn’t mean I’m not dreaming of all those gorgeous things that are on their way from O/S. Will keep you updated with all the latest.
