Fig Leaf Wardrobe Tord Boontje
Thought it was time for an injection of design news on the Miss Moss Blog. This Fig Leaf Wardrobe (don’t you love it?!) is part of the current exhibition (on show until 18 october, 2009) at London’s V&A Museum called Telling Tales. This exhibit explores the contemporary trend among European designers to blurr the boundaries between art and design. This scrummy show features three themes: 1) the “forest glade” which draws on fantasy, nature and fairy tales; 2) the “enchanted castle” which exaggerates and takes the pee-pee out of historical design styles; and 3) “heaven and hell” which deals with themes of mortality and the afterlife. On show is a wonderful selection of furniture, lighting and ceramics by international designers who, according to the designboom website “deliver the spirit of story-telling through their work, each telling a tale by their choice of materials, use of decorative devices or historical allusions.” I wish I lived in London, just so I could see this show. Hey and how about those moleskin slippers?
