While I should be beside myself with excitment about this – the first Miss Moss Australia post – I’m still reeling over the recent bombings in Jakarta. Such a senseless waste of life…I’ve just returned from a 12-day jaunt in Indonesia where the Balinese exemplify some of the finest human qualities: kindness, humility, generosity, modesty, warmth and creativity in ABUNDANCE! While in Indonesia I worked closely with a number of manufacturers – jewellers, silversmiths, clothing businesses and the like – to develop my first Miss Moss range that will be delivered (and available online!) in the coming weeks. One of the contacts I made while in Ubud, has made it her life’s work to revitalise an entire village with her skills, passion and drive. She has personally funded and developed a centre within the village which teaches the local women to sew. These women are then employed, making enough money to feed, clothe and educate their families. Supporting someone like this makes it all seem worthwhile. So, despite these recent bombings, I intend to continue doing business in Indonesia, and support the people who matter.
